ORB - Phase 1...

Hey! Hey!  In my original ORB post I split my journey up into 4 phases...well phase 1 is quickly approaching and I'm not too excited about my progress.  I wanted to lose 20 pounds from my starting weight before my 30th birthday...well I'm officially 10 days out from the big 3-0 and I still have like 11 pounds to lose!  Laughable, no?

Sure there are tons of excuses...the holidays, my epic NYE fall that nearly broke my left foot, work has been so busy ... blah, blah, friggin' blah.  I'm disappointed in myself because I know the real issue is my eating habits... grr...

So just for a little more motivation I received this email from a co-worker last week...

Darci,

Mark and I want to get a team together for the Mac Fitness Challenge that Trinity sent out yesterday.  We thought we’d ask you since I’ve seen you post things about working out etc. and you seem to have that competitive edge to commit.  Let me know if you think you would like to be on our team….

Wowza! Someone was asking me to be on their team for a Fit Challenge?  Holy smokes! So of course I said YES - I mean it's not like I have anything else to do, right?!  I'm excited because this is a new gym I don't belong to and I hear its amazing compared to the little 'ole YMCA.  It has a 24 hour gym, but then they also have awesome classes - anything from Yoga, Boxing, CrossFit, Cardio and Weight Training.  They even have agility classes for little kids starting at 4 years old.  It's a 12 week GET FIT Challenge - it is NOT a Biggest Loser competition, sure losing weight and body fat will get your team more points, but it's really focused on becoming healthier.  They will have team challenges, guest speakers on cooking healthy food, you get points for buying healthy foods or eating healthy when you eat out at restaurants - all kinds of stuff.  Yay!  The cool thing is, the challenge ends the week I leave for Cancun so it's another great push to get into those swimsuits!  :-)

Wish me luck!  Is anyone else doing any "organized" Fitness Challenges?

  1. You know you have to post what you learn at all those classes! That sounds awesome! I work at a university and the senior training students have to train someone for a semester. I signed up and got chosen to get a trainer! Hopefully she will whip my into shape!

  9. Sounds like a great challenge! My work does one starting the end of this month between all the employees. And it is brutal competition...we even try and sabotage each other with temptations like pizza, fresh baked cookies, candy, etc. It is really fun and the accountability factor is a huge motivator to get to the gym.

  10. Sounds like fun! We are having a Biggest Loser challenge at my school district but I opted out. I would like some weight loss with my fitness journey but it's not the reason I'm running. I need to get healthy and do something for myself! Now if I can keep doing that it would be great. ;)
