Weekend Rewind + #running4maggie...

Wowza!  Monday already!?  The weekend started off with a BLAST and ended with a WHIZZER...
But, first things first!  I posted the picture above on my HomeGirl last week, and I'm currently working on pulling clothes out and taking pictures! I decided it will probably, well hopefully be easiest to create a second IG account and post all the clothes there so everyone can see everything! There will be some maternity stuff, mostly Hazel & Olive stuff, some workout apparel and some just random stuff! I will keep y'all updated!
Friday night I went on a dinner date with one of my most favorite friends, Fallyne!  I told The Husband I'd be home at 8:30pm, but after too many Double White Russians, an outrageous number of inappropriate and I'm sure slightly annoying SnapChats, I arrived home a little after Midnight!  Oops... Oh well!  The Husband has been gone M-F the last 3 weeks straight (even left yesterday, Sunday, for his fourth week out) so I don't feel bad.at.all!
My car reconfirmed that a good time was had by all the next day when I decided to actually crawl off the couch in search of some greasy food at approximately 11:30am.
Saturday evening I had the Blue Moon 5k, it was the last of a 3 runs for Starlit Running's Summer Nighttime Race Series!  Granted I hadn't ran in almost 3 weeks, but I wanted that damn medal real bad!  Julie told me she would run/jog/walk whatever it with me if I wanted to do it!  I was all over it at that point!
The first half of the run went great!  I felt good, I ran for the first time since my hip flared up!  It was awesome...until I realized I hadn't run for 3 weeks and that my conditioning has gotten so whacked out!  Yikes!  It always amazes me how fast we can lose our progress when it comes to running!  There was some walking and hip pain the second half of the run, but we finished in 37 minutes...not horrible!  I honestly went in expecting to walk the whole 5k, so I was pleased with being able to run some!  I stretched and iced like crazy Saturday night and yesterday and today the hip feels pretty good!  A little sore, but not much!  I am planning to run Tuesday and Thursday this week, like 2-3 miles and just see how it goes!
This is how I looked after we had a Family Photo Shoot bright and early Sunday morning.  It was humid and hot, the children did not cooperate well and The Husband, well he was disgruntled to be there in the first place...so let's just say I was glad it was over!  Phew!  My fingers were crossed that we captured just a few good shots...and that's when I was tagged in these on FB!
Headband - Dressy Band from Brady Bands
Jack is a total POSER!  He loves having his picture taken and all the attention!  I knew we'd have great ones of him... I love this, my handsome little man!
Norah Jane on the other hand...well, she refused to look at the camera - like at all!  While I love this eyelash shot, it's precious really...I do hope we have a few good ones of her pretty little face!

We also did "family" shots...I'm not holding my breathe on those!  #enoughsaid

Yesterday afternoon I wrapped my Summer Runs up with the #running4maggie Virtual 5k that my good friend Sami organized in memory of her sweet sister, Maggie, who passed away last year in a car accident.  I honestly shouldn't even say it was a run, it was definitely a walk...but I needed to get it done and if walking was the only way, so be it!  Love You, Sami!
Simply Sami
Sami is also raising money for the foundation she set up in honor of Maggie!  Use the button above to click over to her blog and read all about Maggie and Sami!
We polished off the weekend with a Pool Party for our neighbor's little boy's birthday!  The kids had so much fun!  Unfortunately, the party was from 6-8pm and the DIVA (no, not me...I know what you people are thinking) of the household goes to bed by 7pm on the regular.  At approximately 7:10pm the bedtime meltdown was in full force!  Thankfully, our super helpful, amazing and gracious neighbor said she would bring Jack home!  I really am so very lucky to have such awesome neighbors!
Then Jack decided he needed to take a whiz...off the back porch with his PJ pants at his ankles... #boyswillbeboys

I hope y'all had a great weekend too!  This weekend, we currently don't have one.single.event on our calendar...however, I'm debating whether to fill it up or not!?

Weekend Shenanigans...

Linking up today with Sami for a little weekend shenanigan rewind!

Sami's Shenanigans

I don't mean to be a downer first thing on a Monday morning, but there are a couple stories I want to share about a couple great men, great fathers - both of which passed within this past week far too soon! I don't personally know either of these two men, but just seeing the support and reading stories about them has touched me and inspired me and I thought maybe they could do the same for you.

The first is Chad Rogers,  Chad lived in Liberty, MO and was a Husband, Stay at Home Father, Youth Pastor and Marathon Runner.  He left his home last Monday evening for a run and never returned home.  A massive volunteer search, along with the LPD took place all week long along his known running routes.  Despite all the efforts and prayers and hopes, Chad's body was found Friday.  The cause of death hasn't been released yet, but his Dad made a public statement (which was heart wrenching to watch) thanking everyone for their search efforts, donations, thoughts and prayers.  If you want to know more about Chad there is a FaceBook page set up Bring Chad Rogers home and an Instagram account Bringing Chad Rogers Home - at both of these sites you will see pictures of Chad and read stories about him, it's truly inspirational - just simply what a great person he was and how many lives he had touched in his short life, and continue to impact in his passing!  I did see a post stating that a RUN will be organized in Chad's memory and to raise money for his Wife and Son.  I will post details here once they become available and I am definitely going to go and run if at all possible, so if you are in the area and want to participate I hope you will!

The second is Kidd Kraddick from the Kidd Kraddick in the Morning radio show.  If your local radio station broadcasts the show you know what an amazing guy he was!  The one thing I wanted to point out about Kidd is his passion for children!  For over 20 years, his organization Kidd's Kids, has taken family's with terminally or chronically ill children to Disney World.  It's totally free for the families and the entire family gets to go and just be FREE together for one week and forget about all the problems they face day to day!  Kidd passed suddenly on Saturday at a Kidd's Kids Charity Golf Tournament, he died doing what he loved which was working for his Kids!  Kidd's Kids will continue on, if you are interested in donating click here.

RIP Chad and Kidd, you will never be forgotten!

Now, on to some lighter notes about the weekend!

This was one of the first weekends in I don't know how long that we didn't have one single thing on our calendar!  We just spent the weekend hanging out and having fun!

Friday I booked my flight to Chicago for what I have a feeling will be an EPIC weekend! I can't wait to meet and see some of the most fabulous ladies - if you are interested email Wendy (Instagram @chitowngirrl) at yippeeee1@yahoo.com!  She is going to send out an email this week with some details!
Jack just airing it all out after being Checked for Ticks!  He went with The Husband and Uncle Coco to work deer stands and they all had quite a few ticks on them, Jack had 3 that were all already drinking his fine blood juice!  Yuck!
Norah Jane decided she could live off of Powdered Donuts!  I had some of the funniest comments on this picture on Instagram! My comment was "Double'n Down On the Donuts"...
carly1972 said "I love a good dmonut, but I can honestly say I have NEVER eaten one naked, crouched(sp?) on a cooler in the yard.  LOL.  Shes too damn cute!!" She quickly followed with, "Donut! Damn, I'm sober!"
kbeavtann said "That's exactly how I eat my donuts!! In a sumo stance, in a diaper on top of a cooler!! Bean is a classy lady!!"
I literally LOL'd at both of these and I'm not sure I believe carly1972 was sober!  Just sayin!  Also, Kyra I need photographic evidence the next time you eat a donut!  :-)
Shhh....he's hunting wabbits!

Unfortunately, Sunday was a bit of a boring and lazy day!  It was overcast and rainy all day so not much outside play, although Bean and Oscar spent a little time just watching the rain!  How cute!?

A little fitness vent!  I officially started my 10k, 15k, Half Training this past week.  I've been running consistently all summer, but I have a few big(ger) races coming up so I wanted to actually get a training plan laid out.  It's an 18 week schedule built around some runs I have on my calendar, ending with the Route 66 Half Marathon in Tulsa, OK in November.

The Sunday before week 1 started I ran 6 miles and felt good, but once I was done my hip started hurting.  I figured it was just sore from the distance, because it was definitely a longer run for me at this point.  Tuesday I did my 4.5 mile run and after that I knew something wasn't quite right.  I've gone to my Chiropractor 3 times so far (Wed, Thur, Fri) and have another appointment at lunch today.  I have trouble with my leg lengths getting off, thus causes some knee/hip pain.  I was going to try an easy run yesterday, but my trip to Walmart seemed to aggravate my hip and if purely walking was causing an issue I knew better than to run!  I posted the picture below on Instagram and I think I almost just wanted for you girls to say it was OK to rest.  I knew before posting it that I wasn't going to run, but sometimes a little motivation is the kick in the ass you need, and also a little support is just the right medicine too!  I talked to a couple of my friends that are hard core runners and one is also a Physical Therapist, they think I need to go see an Ortho and have an MRI done.  I'm going to give it a couple more days and by mid-week I'll make an appointment.  I'm seriously SO bummed about not running, I have a 10k on the 10th and really want to run it!  To me, it was like the "kick off" of this whole running season!  Stay tuned for more details, but for now, you Bitches need to run an extra mile for me!  #onefordarci

Weekend Rewind...

Gooooooooood Afternoon, Blog Family!!
said in Ty Pennington's Extreme Makeover greeting voice...

How was Y'alls weekends?  Our was great!  Things to do, but not too much to do!  Perfect!

Then my Monday Morning started out like this...I'd love to somehow see a statistic on how many Monday Morning Laptop Forgets happen every week!  I always forget the damn thing!  ALWAYS!

Friday night was low key.  Jack went to the big Cherokee County Fair with The Husband's parents and then stayed the night!  Bean was NOT happy about this!  She was so confused why she didn't get to leave too when Mimi came to pick up Jack!  She even walked over to me and laid her head on my lap, gave me a quick goodbye pat on the back and then made her way over to The Husband and did the same thing.  She cried for a few minutes, but recovered quickly!  That's what's awesome about 1 year olds...nothing gets them down for too long!

Saturday was our work company picnic!  It's totally geared towards the kids and is so fun for them!  The Husband and I however weren't that excited!  It felt like we didn't know anyone there...I was seriously confused!  But we let the kids play on the huge bouncy house and ride some rides at Kiddieland, ate some grub and then were on our way back home!  Mission Accomplished!

My Brother and Sister in Law came over with their little boy when we got home from the picnic and we sat on the back porch, drank a couple beverages and just let the kids play until dark!  It was so nice out because a storm was rolling in so it was nice and cool!  I can't wait for Fall!  I like Summer, but dang, it's just been too HOT!

Saturday evening I also heard back from our photographer and set the date for our next Family Pictures!  They are in 2 weeks!  Eek!  My OCD head started spinning...what am I going to wear?  What are the kids going to wear?  The Husband?  I immediately started thinking through what everyone had and how we could build 2 looks with buying the least amount of new crap!  Let's just say that didn't go over well and I totally broke my "no clothes shopping" goal!  I may or may not have bought myself all those items above and a pair of shoes...Bean two new dresses...Jack a new pair of shorts and 3 shirts...The Husband, well he only needed two shirts!  Oy Vey!

Sunday morning came way too quick and it was back to the normal madness!  I hit the recreation center while Bean was napped and got in a decent 6 miler, but my ass and thighs and groin are paying for it today!  Ouch!  Note to Self:  Stretching is a MUST!

On the calendar this week is a 4.5 mile run tomorrow, a virtual 5k on Wednesday for Marta's 34th birthday! Head over to Four Fit Sisters to sign up, it's FREE so no reason not too!  Then a 4 miler on Thursday!  Yikes!  That sounds like alot!  Fingers crossed!

Streak On, Streakers...

Update: Runners World Summer Challenge, the RW Run Streak!

Holy Cow!  The #STREAKERS are more than half way done with the RW Run Streak Challenge!  Today marks Day 24 out of 39!  Holla!  The group is still hanging tough and I couldn't be more excited!  Through yesterday, Day 23, we have ran a total of 348.27 miles!  Amazing!

I unfortunately am having some trouble with shin splints!  It all started when I decided to go to a random Step Class at lunch last Monday (on the 10th), it was shin hell - rocking horses out the wazoo and jumping jacks that aimed to kill!  Since then my shins have been SCREAMING!  I decided to take it easy this week and just do my 1 mile per day requirement for the challenge and I've been icing and stretching like crazy!  The left one is feeling better/good, the right one...not so much!  I'm hopeful though that taking it easy this week will let me get back at it next week!

This past Saturday I ran the first of three runs in the JoMo Summer Night Run Series, The Starry Night 5k!  It was so fun, I got to meet up with a couple old friends, Julie (Instagram @julieamitchell) and Amanda!  I hadn't seen Amanda since Mardi Gras in STL back in February so I was excited to see her and catch up a bit - she is still just as nice and sweet as ever, she kicked that 5k's ASS and PR'd!  I also met Ashlee for the first time and I just love her!  She is so cute and so happy!  This was Ashlee and her Husband's first official 5k, can I tell you just how cute it is to see a couple be so supportive of each other and run together!?  It's almost sickeningly cute...  My old college friend, Brandy also ran - I love her and I hate her!  She is new to running, but it just seems to come easy to her and she has kicked my ass in the last two 5k's we've done together!  I'm totally jealous...it's not a good look!

I also PR'd and finished in 33:43, which was like 27 seconds off my previous PR!  Holla!  The run was on a trail, which meant part gravel, part chat crap, part pavement.  On top of that add a shit ton of rain and you had yourself a messy situation, but it was a totally fun run!  Everyone had on glow stick bracelets and necklaces, which was almost a little trippy to me!  Eek!

The next run in the series is on July 13th at 8:30pm in JoMo - A Midsummer Night!  I know Julie, Ashlee, Ashlee's Husband and I are running for sure!  Brandy has her 10 year HS reunion so she will miss it!  I hope Amanda decides to come down again though...hint, hint!  Who else is in the area?  Join us won't you?!

The Streaking Continues...

Friday Update: Runners World Summer Challenge, the RW Run Streak!

The #STREAKERS are still going strong and I couldn't be more proud to be apart of such an awesome group of now 10 ladies that are uniting simply by running! Group leader, Julie (Instagram @julieamitchell), provided an update last night: as of day 11 the group has run a total of 174.61 miles! Boom! Each runner has completed their mile/day requirement, with late joiners making up miles as needed. The top runner in the group logged 28.09 miles in the last 11 days! I was sitting at 20.31 miles. What!? What!?

Here are some of my favorite motivational posters/quotes shared by the group this week!

National Running Day was also this week!  It is the first Wednesday of June every year!  2013 was the first time I participated in NRD..hell, I didn't even know there was a NRD before this year!  Every runner in the nation had the opportunity to create their own NRD badge that stated why they run, mine is below!  Holla!  Y'all know I love me some cute clothes!

Lastly, I added another Summer Running Challenge to my plate!  Local runners in my area participate in the 100 Miles in 100 Days!  This is the second year the challenge has existed, the goal is for each runner participating to run 100 Miles in 100 Days and runs from June 1st to September 8th.

Last year the group ran (virtually) from Seattle, Washington to Miami, Florida as a group in 100 days!  The team goal is to run last year's distance TWICE!  Seven days in, I've ran 12.5 miles towards this challenge!  I'm getting myself a Green T-Shirt, dammit!

Anyone else participating in any Summer Fit Challenges?!
